A Haunted Genius By Ziaulkareem by ZiaulKareem

I have got a New Year Gift from our beloved and super genius Street CV hosagu. A Daily Deviation for the photo "A haunted genius". As you know it was an obituary column from Globe and Mail newspaper about Dave Heath: A haunted genius behind the camera. I was passing besides a local café and noticed it by chance and took the shot. Here is the original article...www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/d…
Also a great clip from YouTube about Dave Heath.

Thank you all for all the comments and favs!

Wish you all Happy 2017.

Stripes of Life

Untitled by nicoella

We all think in a series of lines. Stripes have become such a significant part of our life. They are the visual metaphor to this longing!

Cliche's in Street Photography

Street Photography Week

Street photography isn't about judgement, it is about visual impact. There is a tendency among some viewers to make hasty cliché presumptions about Street photography.  Most of the major painters copied others at the early stages of their careers. Photographers photographing clichés is just a natural step in their development. Sometimes even the photographers do not know if their shot resembles another one. The journal "Similitude Street" is a perfect example where two different photographers' photos resemble each other in a very close way.

Clichés are not necessarily bad. It's the emotional element that turns mere cliches into works that are relevant and emotionally resonant.
It's this emotional aspect that breathes life into all work, cinematic, photographic, or what have you, no matter how many times they have been visited in the past.
The great themes in life never go out of fashion, after all. While our environment evolves, many “modern classic” shots do bring along an impression of “déjà vu”.
The end question being: does it really matter ?

Street Photographer Aaron Offord :iconaaroffy: said this in his journal about clichés...

"The biggest cliché of all in street photography is the notion that we should avoid shooting clichés. In some respects creating a well-executed cliché is one of the hardest things to do. The goal should always be to create the photograph in a manner that elevates it above all the other attempts at the same cliché so that it is not seen as just another cliché."

Street photography the ethics of photographing random strangers - Ming Thein

Street photography is a genre that every photographer will try at least once in their career. Its broad appeal stems from the fact that you can do it anywhere; there's a human element to the images that captivate the viewer, and if done well, can make for some extremely arresting images. However, it also requires balls. You have to get close enough to your subjects; and with people, invading personal space is uncomfortable (and possibly hazardous to health) for both photographer and subject. There's a slight snobbishness about shooting with a longer lens, too it isn't seen as being hard core enough. In fact, these days, it seems if you're not at f8, hyperfocal distance and sticking your camera and flash right up to somebody's nose, then you're not really doing street photography.

Lovely surprise eh! Today I received a Daily Deviation on my photo ziaulkareem.deviantart.com/art…
It was suggested by :iconjamminjo: and featured by :iconstamatisgr: in the category of Street Photography.

I love people and everyday when I put my first step on the street I meet so many of them. They give me inspiration and understanding of life. I know that if I look both ways when I cross the street, I'll see a lot more than traffic. That's the reason I love "Street Photography". I have realized that I have so much to learn about the Genre. It's an honor to me to receive a DD, but all the credit goes to you folks in DA. I've received many well wishes and faves today - feeling your love for sure.  My sincere intention is to respond everyone, although it might take a while. If I don't get to you please know that I am very grateful to you. :tighthug:

There are so many talented Street Photographers in DA who share their knowledge and insights with us everyday. I learned from them with open mind. I admire their comments and respect their critiques.

Thank You. :)
